Already established as one of the area’s best wildflower viewing secrets, the east property has a lot to offer. The west side of the property was designated for multiple use trails: mountain bike, horseback, cross country skiing and hiking. The west side of the property is also host to a large wetland area where waterfowl abound and wood ducks and geese are common sightings.
Lincoln Memorial Trailhead
Good news for history buffs and trail users! The La Porte County Parks Department has developed the Lincoln Memorial Trail, which provides over 1.5 miles of new, multiple-use trails. There is a paved and an unpaved trail running side-by side starting at Bluhm Park east, continuing due east to the abandoned Monon Railroad corridor, then turning north along the corridor to County Road 300 South. The area on 350 South includes park benches, picnic tables, hitching post, water fountain, bike racks, restrooms, landscape plantings, trail gates and parking lot.
The Parks Department is currently working towards expanding the trail from 300 South 2 more miles to connect Purdue Northwest in Westville.
