An adult is required to participate.

Shake, Rattle and Move is perfect for all ages and abilities. Join us for a low-impact mindfulness, while stretching, meditation, heart pumping and balance fun. Whatever level you feel comfortable, sit or stand with this safe, easy to perform, self-paced program will improve your flexibility, balance, strength and stamina. Come out and enjoy the warm sunshine, quite nature and view wildlife along the way. Max 11

Tuesday Treasures

Tuesdays at Luhr Park 9am - 12pm Ages 6-13
Parents are not required to participate or stay during the program. $8.00 per person / per program. All programs include arts and crafts.

June 12 A Drop Around The World- Learn about the water cycle.

June 19 Sweet As Honey- This program will be all about bees.

June 26 What’s Under The Canopy- Learn about forest animals.

July 17 Connecting Habitats- This program will be about people and our affects on animal homes.

July 24 Rock Your Planet- Learn about outer space and more,
re-registration and payment is required one week before each program.

Family Fishing Nights

6-7:30 pm Luhr Park
All ages welcome

Come out to the Pond at Luhr Park for an evening of fishing. A limited number of poles and bait will be provided. No fishing licenses are required during the family fishing programs. Children must be accompanied by an adult. FREE - Pre-registration is required at least one week in advance. Call 219-325-8315


“Under the Shady Tree - Story Time”

Hey Pre-school – Elementary age kids, come to Luhr for story time at the Park. Siblings are welcome to join in the fun. Bring a blanket to sit under the shady tree for some fun at Luhr Park. This story time includes a fun activity. Afterwards, stick around for self-guided playtime or bring a snack. Rain or shine, if raining meet in the Morgan Shelter. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Bridge Celebration, Dedication, and Wetland Study

Saturday, June 23 10am
Red Mill Park, North Side, Smith Hall
This dedication is for all ages and will include a hands on wetland study, bridge dedication, and light refreshments. We will be using nets to explore what creatures are living in the water. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No pre-registration required. Free Program


Reptile and Amphibian Open House

Sunday, August 5
2-4 pm All Ages
Red Mill Park, South Side, EEC

Come to the EEC at Red Mill, any time between 2-4pm, to get up close and personal with turtles, salamanders, and a snake. You can even make an art and craft to take home. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Scout Leaders

Free Environmental Education Programs are offered to groups throughout the year. The programs last one hour or longer depending on the group size and age. Programs can be scheduled at Creek Ridge Park, Luhr Park, Bluhm Park or Red Mill Park. Click here for more Information.
